Stone Bench Creations, a technology driven organization in the entertainment sector

Karthik Subbaraj of Pizza and Jigarthanda fame is launching Stone Bench creations on the 10th of

November. Stone Bench is an technology driven organization in the entertainment industry that

will bring creators, talents and viewers together. This would help short film makers,

independent film makers, aspiring talents and regional film makers who want to

internationalize their movies.

Karthik began his film-making career with a short film, which made it to Nalaya Iyakkunar. This

acted as a platform for him to taste success in feature films. This made him realize the need for

a platform to produce short films, bring in revenues to producers of short films and connect

artists with film makers. This has resulted in Stone Bench creations, a technology driven

company that strives to deliver value to creators, talents and viewers.

Stone Bench will be launching 3 products:

Bench Flix – catalyzing the short film renaissance: Independent films and short films are

gaining traction; however they have not reached the scale and scope to sustain itself like

mainstream movies. Bench Flix is a distribution hub that focuses on delivering Reach,

Recognition and Revenue to the independent and short film segments by distributing the

movies across channels like theatres, television, in-flight entertainment and mobile platforms.

The cast and crew of Pencil, currently shooting in Japan has braved through the Super Typhoon Nuri that has been threatening Japan for the past few days. The spot was set and the entire crew rode a winch atop Mount Yatsugatake, which is about 2500 meters above sea level, along with heroine Sridivya’s mother.

On reaching the top, due to lack of oxygen and unbearable cold, most people suffered unable to breathe normally and the first one to face the wrath of that was Sridivya’s mother. Fortunately, the producer of the film, who had accompanied the crew, is a doctor and he sprung to action and helped her with immediate medical aid. But, that wasn’t all.

The Super Typhoon named Nuri, which is believed to be one of the strongest typhoons the world has seen in 2014, lashed out and hurt a few of the crew members, including Pencil’s lead actor & music director G.V. Prakash. That did not stop the determined director Mani Nagaraj and team. Even with all these difficulties, all the necessary shots have been canned and as per schedule, the crew is returning back to Chennai by November 5^th. With this the production has been wrapped up.

This film is shot in Black and white and ends in present day. We have adopted contemporary form of film making. I dedicate this movie to my Guru Late. Balumahendra sir.

Few scenes from great historical movies have been remade in this movie. Namely scenes from Ayirathil oruvan (M.G.R), Parasakthi and Raja Rani (1956) have been adopted in this film.
